How can I fix the automatic thread cutter on my brother 270D embroidery machine?

Does anyone know what could be the problem? It stopped working suddenly and makes a kind of grinding noise when I push the button. It does not cut either thread and I am worried that this may lead to a more serious problem with my machine. Everything else works fine, but I have no nearby dealer to take my machine to for a quick check.

Thanks for any help

it could be a range of different things really but if your thread isnt cutting it does sound like a problem with the blade and for the threading the hook that goes direcly through the needle may be slighlty bent stopping the threading or another problem for the threading if u have recently changed the needle make sure it is inserted correctly........some dealers can arrange a pick up and drop off for a small charge hope this helps

Take it to a reputable repair shop for cleaning and adjustment. The blade may be out of alignment. It doesn’t hurt to have these machines professionally cleaned. Sure saves a lot of aggravation.
