Does anyone own a Brother Embroidery machine? What is your opinion of the machine?
I am thinking of buying an embroidery machine. Would like others opinion on the Brohter brand before I buy one. Not sure which model yet so please let me know the model you are talking about. I will mainley be using it for children's clothing, heirloom stitching & pillows.
I have a Brother 2500D and it works great. I must say that I use it mainly for embroidery but it sews so well too. I wish I could do both at the same time! I highly suggest that you get a 5 x 7 field. The 10 x 6 is also nice but not as essential as 5.x7. I would say 90% of what I do is 5 x 7 or less. The other thing I might consider if I had to do it again would be buying an embroidery only machine because I feel that so much of the extra sewing options are never used because I am always embroidering. I would probably buy a seperate sewing machine. The other thing to keep in mind is if you like Disney Characters you must buy a machine with a D as the last character. Brother machines are the only machines that can legally embroider Disney characters. Good luck in your decision. Keep in mind if you have not embroidered before there is a long learning curve because you must learn what kind of stabilizers to use, how to hoop items etc. Sewforum.com is a good place to go to get your questions answered and Emblibrary.com has a lot of good tutorials.

I own a babylock Ellageo3, made by Brother. I love it. I got over 3 million stitches before even the first tune up. I think they are easy to use, user friendly. Mine is the embroidery/sewing machine.

I own both a Singer Quantum XL1000 and a Brother Pacesetter ULT 2003D. The Singer is ok, but I love the Brother. The Brother has Disney characters loaded on it already, Mickey Mouse and crew AND Winnie the Pooh and friends. It’s really easy to use. You download your designs to floppy disc or use the Brother design cards. I’m always going online to buy designs and downloading them to floppy. Both machines are dual, embroidery and sewing. It says I’m Markjsr, but that’s my husband. I’m Shirltj.

I purchased a Brother In-novis 4000D about two years ago and love it. I’ve had no problems with it but do take it in every six months for maintenance because I use it so much.
I currently embroidering tunics for our junior high presentation of the The Three Musketeers. They look very professional and saved the school a lot of money since we don’t have to rent them.
Yes, this was an expensive machine; however, I would buy it again.

I own a Brother PC 8500. I’ve had it for 7 years and it still works perfectly. Haven’t had the first problem. It sews beautifully. When I upgrade, it will be a Brother.

I used to sell Embroidery Machines and for what it’s worth I think Brother has the best embroidery of any machine on the market. It is a strong heavy duty machine, built on a commercial head and can really take the use. I have 4 plus, Viking, Bernina, and Pfaff. I do not embroidery on any of the other machines, although I used to until I realized how beautifully the Brother stitched out. When I first started in the business I was an dedicated Viking user and wasn’t interested in any other machine, but after working with all these different brands, I am hooked on Brother.

yes i have a Brother Inovis 1500 model. it sews beautifully and comes with the heirloom stitches. Its a dream to sew with and does embroidery as well. My father got it for me as a gift in Oct. 2007. it has alot of power and the stop star features are great. it also has an auto stop on the bobbin thread when it is running out, the auto needle threader is so nice and time saving. it comes with numerous designs in the machine including disney characters. It comes with a usb cord for your computer or lap top & has 512mb of memory ( i wish it had more and am checking to see if i can upgrade that part) for storing your personal designs. it has a black & white touch screen that is really easy to see & use. the pricing on this machine varies in the 1500-1900 dollar range in my area. Utah – Idaho. hope you find what you want and this helps.

I own a Brother 4000D and previous to this, I had a ULT. I love my machine and find it simple to use. The ULT used a floppy and so I advanced to the 4000D which uses a memory stick. I have the PE design software also.

I’ve recently bought a Brother Innov-1500D. It is extremely easy to use. There are a variety of built-in stitches. It does not come with the software to produce large monograms. You must buy it extra. Overall, I am very satisfied.

which is also an sewing/embroidery machine which is very good for sewing with all the different feet as does the small one,but more. You can embroider larger pieces, like I like to or small to medium sizes. I prefer the larger machine, but it also cost a lot more,than the smaller one,but I can do more with the larger one. I really like the Bother machines,more than any others I have seen. the larger one omes with more built in designs,but they both do and a lot of diesney characters also,my nieces &nephews really liked this as did friends’ children. I just love my 4000D as it also threads the needle for me at the touch of a buttonI hope this helps you.

I have the 4500 and love it. I traded in my 2003ULT for it and I loved it. I also have a PE150 which is a little workhorse. I have to say though I live near an authorized dealer and He does a great job of maintaince for me. My 2003 had millions of stitches on it when I traded. Thimblequeen

I have 2 4000D’s. I love them, the embroidery when done is beautiful. They are very easy to use. I make my grand kids p.j.s, and love how the machine sews. In fact I’m still learning on all the different stitching it creates.

I have a 8500D Pacesetter, I love it . I use it a lot. It hasn’t let me down. The embroidery is nice , and when I use the sewing part instead of embroidery, the stitches are nice, It sews like a dream. I would like to trade up, for another Brother. I have sewn in factory’s using a Brother industrial. In my opinion, They are one of the better machines.

I have a Brother ULT 2002D which I am very happy with. I have a friend that has the ULT2001D plus the Innovis which she is very happy with. I use mine for quilting blocks, baby quilts and some other sewing and embroidery.

I own a Brother PE150 That I love dearly I had this machine for 5 years with no problems really. And I have upgraded some to a Babylock Ellure made by Broher and I just love that one as well. I have had that for 4 months, it is becoming a workhorse like the PE150. I just bought my daughter a 250D and she loves hers as well. My daughter and granddaughter were constantly using my machines so I got them there own. Now I can have time to finish my quilts.

My wife has the Brother Innovis 700E and although hers is a problematic machine from day one, when it works it is fantastic.
The Brother machines are generally the best of the home user machines and offer the best reliability.
My wife’s machine has had problems from day one and unfortunately my local brother agent isn’t of much use, so I am now looking at learning how to service it correctly and adjust base-tension settings and timing etc.
She has worked on Bernina and Singer machines for other people and she says the Brother is far better and easier to use.

I have owned Brothers machine since the early 90′s I had a 8500 for years (a real work horse) then went up to the Brother 1500 a year later bought the 4000D six months later I traded the 1500 in on the new 6200 6 headed embroidery machine. I have only had this machine for a week so I can’t tell you much on that machine yet. One thing for sure is buy the machine you want because if you don’t you will in the future. Also I think dollar for dollar Brother is the best machine out there…John

Brother machines that I’ve used have all stitch beautifully. I don’t think you’d regret purchasing one.
My daughter-in -law has a non-embroidery, 1980(?) model (red and white coloration) that is in tough shape…improvised thread spool holder, bent bobbin winder, etc. but its stitch quality is still better than a lot of newer machines that I’ve seen.
My Pacesetter ULT2002D still sews super and I’ve never had a real problem with it. It had all of the features I wanted at half the price of a Pfaff model that I had considered, so I bought it! (I am a "Pfaffie" who also owns two Pfaff sewing machines and two Pfaff sergers.)
I really enjoy my Baby Lock EMP6. Its similar to a Brother 6 needle machine. That one’s a real honey too!
By the way, I sew and/ or embroider almost every day. I keep my machines well maintained so I can keep sewing.

Hi, Well, I’ve got the baby of the bunch! I have a Brother 150 and I love it.I’ve had it 4 years but haven’t been able to embroidery in a year, so I am a novice really. My stitches are even the tention is great (when I set it correctly) and it comes with a very easy to read manual. I Love It. Oma

Hi, I own a Brother 8500, Pfaff 7570 and Janome 11000. I found the Brother hard to use, fussy about bobbins thus throwing tensions off etc. Not having a repair person locally is a big issue and it always has to be sent away if needing repaired. I just recently purchased a bobbin adjuster which is supposed to help. The Pfaff 7570 is beautiful to sew with, again, only takes one type of prewound bobbins which I like to use so that’s a nuisance. Pfaff’s to me are also way too advanced and one needs a good teacher to get the most out of it. ( The teacher should be standing behind you every time you sew…lol They are that finickity. The Janome is wonderful. So easy, can’t believe it. I know others who have the lesser expensive models of Janome and they love them also. I bought mine off ebay and learned to use it myself. Have just recently signed in to a few lessons to make sure I am using all the features. My daughter has a Janome Gem which she uses to take to quilt classes and a Babylock Decorator’s model She loves them both. Hope this helps. Barbara
